Located in South Lanarkshire, approx 18 miles south of Glasgow City boundary, 10 miles south of Motherwell and Hamilton, centrally (as the crow flies) 32 miles from the Ayrshire Scottish west coast, and equally 32 miles from the east coast at Edinburgh. The border of Scotland & England is only a 68 mile drive via the M74. Lesmahagow, although located at Junction 10 of the M74 is a quiet rural village with a conservation main street.
Lesmahagow is again central to the three main airports, which are easily accessed, Glasgow International via the new M74 link should be around 20 minutes, Glasgow-Prestwick, approx 40 minutes and Edinburgh International via the M74/ M8 is about 45 minutes.
Of historical interest, there are recent archaeological exposed Jacobite graves in the Church Square, with many of the "Big Houses" estate mansions in magnificent condition (see our photo gallery). Due to its rural setting yet minutes to all the big towns, lots of new housing developments and private plot developing has seen a major expansion over the last 10 years. Two brand new school developments have completed and a third commencing. These are just some of the reasons this village is rapidly expanding.
