A bit of information please from anyone who might have it.
My wife's great Grandparents came from Lesmahagow and we are in possession of a silver plate presented to Mr and Mrs John Struthers dated Nov8th 1904.
Inscription:-
Presented to Mr and Mrs John Struthers along with a purse and sovereigns.
As a token of 'Esteem and Deepest Sympathy' from a large section of The Rate Payers Of This Parish.
For the personal injury and loss Mr. Struthers has sustained
Through his championing the cause of the ratepayers.
Parish Councillor And Members of The School Board
Lesmahagow Nov 8th 1904.
Any info would be greatly received - it's a mystery to the family.
