Highland Games 2010

Following a meeting of the Highland games committee on Mon and Cllr Alex McInnes, it was decided because of lack of funds, and uncertainty of the Lottery Grant to cancel the 50th Highland games scheduled for June 19th 2010.

The committee, with assistance of Cllr McInnes have arranged a Fun/ Gala Day to enable some of the activities to continue during the day, such as

09.30 am       Floats to assemble at Ambius car park.

10.00 am       Procession commencing from Ambius car park, via Balgray Rd, Bankhead Rd, Abbey Green Road, Priory Rd, Eastwood Drive, Auldton Drive.

11.00 am       Crowning ceremony at Miner's Welfare, car park, Kelso Rd.

11.30 am       Queen's parade, Kelso Ave, Balgray Rd, into Briarbank to playing fields behind Miners Welfare.

12.00 am       Queen's address to open Gala Day.

Admission this year to all events is FREE!!!

Program for the afternoon to include Funfair rides, kiddies races (from 3 years and older), games and usual fast food/ burger vans etc.

Come along and have FUN.

Refreshments available from Clubhouse.

The traditional family ceilidh with John Carmichael's Ceilidh Band, now being held in the Lesmahagow Miners Welfare at 7.30pm - 12.00pm.

A few tickets for the ceilidh still available from LHGC secretary Kevin Avis Tel mob 07708 318278.

Kevin conveyed the committee's disappointment and apologises for any disappointment, although arrangements are being made to maximise the program.

The Scottish Pipe Band association may still send along some bands.
